Concurrent Engineering Europe' 97
MEETINGS, KEYNOTES, EXHIBITION, ETC.

BEST PAPER AWARD

The 1997 Concurrent Engineering Europe Conference will award the best papers, one in each track. From these papers, the overall best paper of the conference will be chosen. We will try to have the awarded paper published in an International Journal, after incorporating modifications in the paper, if necessary.

PLENARY PRESENTATIONS

Advances in Evolutionary Computation and Applications in the Optimized Design of Manufacturing Systems

by Henri Pierreval, Universite Clermont-Ferrand, Aubiere Cedex, France

This presentation will give an overview of evolutionary principles and how possible solutions can be improved through generations, taking into account constraints and criteria to be optimized. Emphasis would be put on their application in manufacturing systems.

The benefits of these methods would be illustrated in the manufacturing area through 3 well known design problems:

  1. cell formation problems (group technology)
  2. layout problems and
  3. optimization of the configuration of the workshop through simulation-optimization.

EXHIBITS

An exhibition will be held in the central hall where all participants meet for coffee and tea. There will be a special exhibition section for universities and non-profit organizations, and a special section for publishers and commercial stands. If you would like to participate, please contact the SCS European Office.

VENDOR SESSIONS

For demonstrations or video sessions, please contact SCS International at the European Office. Special sessions within the scientific program will be set up for vendor presentations.

OTHER ORGANIZED MEETINGS

A Special Blue Sky meeting will be organised for those attending the conference so that the future of the Concurrent Engineering Europe can be discussed and mapped out.
