1. About Riga and Conference Site

Riga, the capital of Latvia, can be considered to be the heart of the Baltic region. The city has a colourful history during its more then eight centuries of existence. Riga is best known for its rich architectural and cultural legacy. Riga’s strategic geographical location at the crossroads between East and West has helped it become the leading regional centre of the Baltic countries.

2. Information on arrival in Riga

Arriving by plane ( http://www.riga-airport.com )

The airport (Lidosta) is located about 13 kilometers southeast of Riga.


Getting to town  

Buses No.22 and No.22A have direct services between the airport and the city centre. To get on the bus at the airport, look for bus stop located opposite the terminal behind the car park. Frequency 10 - 30 minutes from 5:30 a.m. to 10:40 p.m. Journey time about 30 minutes. Fare 0.20 LVL.

You can take a taxi to get to the hotel. Journey time to the city centre 15-20 min. 
Getting to the centre of the city would cost about 5 LVL.

Several hotels provide shuttle service to and from the airport.  

 

Arriving by train (http://www.ldz.lv/en/index.html )

The central train station (or Centrālā Stacija) in the very heart of the city just a few minutes’ walk from the old city. Many of the most notable Riga hotels are five- or ten-minute walk from these central stations. 

Getting to town. You are right beside the Old Town and conference site. Just turn left when leaving the station and head toward the black spire of St. Peter's Church, then walk through the underpass and follow the signs 13. Janvara iela and turn right into Aspazijas bulvaris. You can take a taxi to get to the hotel or use public transport (public transport tickets – 0,20 LVL).
