Abstract: |
This paper introduces a surface
alternative to the volume model commonly employed in soft object simulation.
This is inspired by a significant interest in employing the surface data due
to its simplicity. However, there are issues in properties estimation and
volume preservation. Therefore, the aim of the ongoing research includes
exploring the potential of a surface mass spring model with shape-preserving
springs for volume simulation. The approach illustrates the possibility of
deriving the spring stiffness at runtime based on the real material
properties as well as achieving a global shape deformation despite the
non-existence of internal volume. The proposed scheme can be further explored
to address other material properties. |
