Simulation, Experimental Science and Engineering in Maritime Operations(ESE)

Simulators provide a setting for looking into complex operations in various fields. Use of simulators for evaluation and conceptualization of design and operations is an emerging area. Both the above goals require an experimental approach. Maritime operations are pioneering the use of simulators for this very purpose. This track is mainly intended for those using simulators with ultimate goals in improving design and operations in general across various fields, in particular in the maritime domain.

The track is intended to offer a forum for people interested in using simulators as experimental tools with ultimate goals in design and operational improvements. In particular, the subjects include but are not limited to:

  • Use of simulators for training

  • Use of simulators in concept design

  • Cognitive ergonomics

  • Physical ergonomics

  • Organizational factors in operations

  • Visualization

  • Maritime industrial design

  • Interface design

  • User experience

  • User interface design

  • Usability

  • Health & Safety

  • Maritime occupational health
